This was my view many Sunday mornings at church.  ❤️ We’d often have a conversation afterward about family. When this photo popped up today I thought it needed to be shared. What an incredible life of service Coach led, & Rosemary, too.

My sincerest condolences to the family of Coach Cottle. What an amazing and eventful life he led along with his wife and family. Like so many young people growing up in Temple, he was my history teacher in Jr. High at Travis. My years at Travis hold a special place in my heart because of teachers like Coach Cottle. I'm not sure what kind of a student he thought I was, but I thought he was a great teacher and enjoyed being in his class. I recall my memories from Jr. High often, sometimes with my own high school students, and I am always grateful that I had teachers like him. I can still see him in his class right now, and where I sat.
It is so nice to see that he lived a long life, and one filled with so much love and adventure with his family and friends. May he rest in peace.

I wanted to pass my condolences to your family. It’s amazing that he was 100 yrs. I wish I would have been able to attend his service but I was unaware of his passing.
 I had Coach Cottle for History at Travis Jr High. He was a great teacher and coach. He was a great listener and had patience with his students. I was very fortunate to have him as my teacher
It’s been probably 55 yrs or so and I still tell the story that he let me sign his famous paddle he had for coaching.  I know you’ll will miss him and are very blessed to have had him for such a long time.

Coach Cottle taught me how to drive back in 1975. He was a very patient soul!!

Marcine was always highly regarded in our family as he played baseball and softball with and against my grandfather and father. 
Marcine embodied the history of sports, not only at Temple High, but the local recreational scene at large. Obviously a highly influential man for a very long time.

To Brian and the Cottle Family,  my name is Charles Johnson (Brian I don't know if you will remember me) an Official that worked with Coach Cottle for many years.  I am sending my condolences for the loss of Coach.  He was a great man to have known as an official and I know he was even Greater as a Husband, Dad, Grandfather and Friend.  He will be greatly missed.  I remember when I first joined the Chapter he was so encouraging to me that he was the reason for me to commit to the Temple (later known as the Central Texas) Chapter for 35 years of service there.  I always looked up to him as a mentor.  I do remember the games that he took me to and the information that he would pass on to us younger officials.  What a Great Man to learn the game from!  GOD BLESS THE COTTLE FAMILY AND GOD KEEP YOU ALL!

Thank you Coach Cottle for everything that lead me to understand life. Even when I came back to Temple to visit, you still remembered me.

You gave me my first chance at participating in a golf tournament in Round Rock at varsity level at Temple High in 1982.

God bless him, as he was so very instrumental as a coach when he was at Travis Jr. Highschool, and I was there as a teen. I always appreciated and respected him, and it is sad to see that he has passed.  I had one of the funniest memories of him in one of his dealings with us on the very first day in guy there. Also, he told us that cussing was a failure to communicate that day and if we did so he would introduce us to the Board of Education in his office there.  I won't convey that story here, but it was indeed a grand memory to have of him from that time in the 60's when respect was indeed ingrained into a lot of folks.  Grand thing for anyone to have known this man and God be with him on his journey to above.

Marcine is undoubtedly one of the finest men I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing.    He invited me to play on his softball team (Red Hanger) in the late 1970’s.  We were playing in a tournament in Waco when he questioned an umpire’s call.  A guy in the stands yelled, “I came to see a game.”   Without batting an eye,  Marcine yelled back,  “Go find one!” Lol. As a football coach at Little River Academy, Marcine & his crew called several  games for us.  I remember him saying, “If the offensive line was holding on the 2 yard line, they were probably holding on the 50 as well.” Marcine was definitely a class act.  He will be dearly missed.✝️🏈🇺🇸🇺🇸 Grady Barganier

Beautiful Rosemary and family, our deepest sympathy to you all. Marcine is absent from here, but present in glorious Heaven. We pray The Holy Spirit will comfort all of you and keep you all in His love and care.

I am so glad I got to participate in Coach Cottle's Driveby Birthday Party! I'm also glad I was the only one to give him candy for his birthday and he loved it.  Prayers for his sweet family.

Coach tied the most intricate of flies during history class. Even from my seat in his junior high class room, it was obvious he loved fishing. Never heard a harsh word from his mouth. No one in class ever spoke out of turn to him. Deepest respect from all of us that he taught driver’s ed to in the Summer, too. His wife was beautiful and full of grace. Praying for her and the family over these next very difficult times without him.

Best teacher of them all. Bless you and your family. You will be missed.

My prayers are with you. He was not only a coach but a wonderful friend. So very glad to have known him.

Sorry for your loss.  So happy that he and his family had so much time together.  I was fortunate to have Coach for my 9th grade history teacher and he taught me how to drive.  I honestly can’t remember much about the history class that he taught but I certainly listened to his drivers ed class.  I’m sure that his football and baseball skills were also invaluable to his players.  I could go years without seeing Coach but I could always spot him in a crowd and remember hearing him tell me “Gandy stop talking “.  I always wanted to sign his paddle but I wasn’t willing to take the “licks” so that I could.  RIP Coach.

Sending prayers to Coach’s family. He was a great man! I had him as a teacher at Travis,Middle School. I absolutely loved his class! He was an umpire behind the plate at many of my softball games at Lions Park. Loved that smile and his sweet comments every time a pitch was thrown. RIP Coach
