Coach Marcine Cottle of Temple passed away peacefully at his home Friday surrounded by his family: wife of 76 years Rosemary, his children and their spouses Marcia Macha, Ron Macha, Kelly Cottle, Brian Cottle, Jerry Ann Cottle and grandson Brian Marcine Cottle.
Born in Bartlett, Texas in 1923, this proud Son of the Republic of Texas served in the U.S. Military in WWII after graduating from Temple High School. He married his sweetheart Rosemary Huffman Cottle in 1947. His love for all sports led him into a successful coaching career at Denison High School and Temple High School. He was a member of the Western Hills Church of Christ. He used his positions as a Christian teacher/coach to care for and mentor hundreds of his beloved students and players over a span of 8 decades…a true legacy.
A love of fishing, hunting and coaching may have been the keys to celebrating 100 years of life, love and sports. His desire was to always help those around him in making their lives better….he will be missed dearly, but never forgotten.
Viewing will be held Tuesday evening October 3rd from 6-8 p.m. at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2:00 P.M. at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home with Scott Meyer officiating. Burial will follow immediately at Bellwood Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations in his honor to the Ralph Wilson Youth Club in Temple – 1515 South 25th Street, Temple, Texas, 76504, Tel 254-773-9001. Attention Sam Jones
