Margaret C. Rucker

Margaret Rucker, age 86 of Temple, died Friday, September 23, 2016 in a local care center.  Services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, September 27th at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home with Dr. Ron Milne officiating.  Private burial will be at Bellwood Memorial Park.  Visitation will be 6:00 – 8:00 PM Monday, September 26th at the funeral home.   Mrs. Rucker was born May 7, 1930 in Stringtown to Vernon C. and Jessie Brooks Collier.  She lived most of her life in Temple except for two years in Houston and two years in Port Arthur. She graduated from Temple High School in 1947 and attended Temple Jr. College.  She married Ray K. Rucker on June 26, 1948.  In 1949, their daughter, Raynetta was born.  She passed away in 1959.  Mrs. Rucker worked for the Texas Department of Public Health and retired in 1991.  She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church and past member of Avolonte Study Club.   She enjoyed traveling, camping and Wildcat Football.  Also her hobbies were sewing, oil painting, ceramics and stained glass.    She was also preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Nelta Collier Kacir.  Survivors include her husband, Ray K. Rucker of Temple, one sister, Brooksie Collier East of Nederland and numerous nieces and nephews.
