

Margaret “Maggie” Cross of Troy was born in Waco, Texas on December 2, 1952, and passed away to be with her Lord on Sunday, January 3, 2016, at age 63. Maggie was preceded in death by her parents George Gan and Edna Butler Gan of Eddy, Texas. Maggie graduated from Bruceville-Eddy High School in 1971. On June 17, 1972, Maggie married Jim Tom Cross in Moody, Texas. She worked for Montgomery Ward as a sales associate and she was employed by the Temple Veterinary Hospital in Temple, Texas for thirty years where she was a receptionist and came to be an office manager, helping Dr. Gary Gosney build the practice. She enjoyed interacting with the clients and their pets. Maggie cherished spending time with her family and playing games with them. Christmas was her favorite time of year. She was a sweet, generous, and loving wife, mother, and grandmother with a beautiful smile and big heart. Maggie is survived by her husband, Jim, sons, Randy Cross and wife Heather of Aledo, Texas, and James “Jamie” Cross and wife Courtney of Austin, Texas, daughter, Sonja “Missy” Cross Verhey and husband Brian of Pontiac, Michigan, two granddaughters, Grace Cross and Allie Cross and one grandson, Austin Verhey. Maggie is survived by a sister Sonia Gan and brothers David Gan, Bruce Gan, and Curtis Gan. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 6, at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home. Celebration of Life Service will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 7, at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Hillyard officiating. Burial will take place at Eddy Cemetery in Eddy, Texas.
