Margaret Ann Spencer-Muhlman peacefully passed away on September 24, 2023 in Temple, Texas at the age of 89. Margaret was born in Kosse, Texas on May 9, 1934 to Ralph and Naomi Stephens and grew up in Marlin, Texas. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many. Margaret was known for her faith in God and her kind, warm-hearted nature, never failing to make a lasting impression on those she encountered. She had a special love for children of all ages, especially her two daughters and grandchildren.
Throughout her life Margaret worked in various roles, including as a kindergarten teacher, secretary, and bank clerk. However, her most dedicated work was in raising and supporting her loving family. Her devotion and care were evident in the strong bonds she formed with her daughters Debbie (Hensley) Shine and Susan (Hensley) McGory and their husbands Hugh Shine and David McGory. Margaret was also a proud grandmother to Hannah Shine-Moss and husband Ryan Moss, and David Shine and wife Morgan (Hamilton) Shine, and Kelli (Shine) Johnson and husband Chris Johnson. Margaret was predeceased by her husband Hank Muhlman and was blessed to be loved by his children and grandchildren in her last years.
Margaret’s Christian walk was an ever present aspect of her life. Her faith was steadfast and so evident at the time of her passing. She was an active member of Cogdell Memorial Methodist and Highland Baptist during her years in Waco. Margaret’s final place of fellowship was the weekly services at Stonybrook Assisted Living which she greatly enjoyed and recruited others to join.
In her free time Margaret enjoyed hobbies including entertaining, crafts, cooking and baking, everything Christmas, and always taking time for those needing prayer or someone to listen. Her creative spirit and culinary talents brought joy to those around her.
Funeral service to honor Margaret will be held at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home in Temple on Sunday, October 1, 2023; visitation from 1:00 pm until the time of service at 2 pm. Graveside services will be Monday, October 2, 2023 at Waco Memorial Cemetery at 9 am.
