Marie Louise Kent Mrs. Marie Louise Kent, 86 of Temple died Wednesday November 1, 2006 in a Temple Hospital. Services for Mrs. Kent will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday November 3, 2006 at the Scanio-Harper Funeral Home Chapel with Father Leonard Leddy officiating. A private family burial will be held at Hillcrest Cemetery. Mrs. Kent was born February 23, 1920 in Sheboygan, Wisconsin the daughter of Walter and Genevieve Schnieder Paulmann. She attended nursing school at the Michael Reese Hospital in Chicago. During W.W. II she was a volunteer with the American Red Cross. She married John G. Kent June 6, 1941 in Illinois. She moved to Temple in 1960 and worked for the Temple Telegram and the Belton Journal for a number of years. Marie became a real estate agent at the age of 65 and was a million dollar seller four times. In 2005 Marie was recognized by the Republican Party of Bell County for her contributions to the political process and the Republican Party. The Pioneer Award, which she was presented, is an award to those individual's who believe in the principles and ideals of the Republican Party. They persevered through the early days and worked hard when the Republican Party was the minority party, and worked even harder when the party became a majority. She was a member of the Central Texas Republican Women and served as an officer. In the early 1980's Marie served as Republican Party Headquarters Chairman. She was also active in elections ands served as an Election Judge for several years. A family visitation will be held from 5:30 until 6:30 PM Thursday November 2, 2006 at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home in Temple. Marie is survived by her husband John G. Kent of Temple two daughters Helen Marie Kent of New York, New York Donna Marie Von Lunen of Austin, Texas and by one son Marty Kent of Temple 3 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. In Lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to the Alzheimer's Association Capital of Texas Chapter 3429 Executive Center Drive Suite #100 Austin, Texas 78731.
