Marion Witt Smith

Marion Witt Smith, age 85, of Temple passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at a local care center. She was born on September 4, 1931 in Gainesville, TX the daughter of William and Kate Witt. In May of 1951 she married Norris Smith in Abilene, Texas. Norris preceded her in death in 1989. Marion was a school teacher for 30 plus years in the Stamford ISD spending majority of her tenure at Reynold’s Elementary School. She was a former member of the Orient Street Church of Christ in Stamford and currently a member of Western Hills Church of Christ in Temple. She also spent time as a Yellowbird at Stamford Memorial Hospital and volunteered at Scott and White and the Ronald McDonald House in Temple. She is survived by her sons Mark of Irving and Lane and wife Sandy of Temple, grandsons Cory Smith of San Antonio, Cole Smith and wife Chelsea of Amarillo, and Calvin Smith of Temple, and a great-granddaughter Sydnee Smith. She is also survived by hier brothers and sisters Jerry Witt of Baytown, Joyce Wharton of Kingston, Arkansas, Billie Marie Banks of Gainesville, Paul Witt and wife Shirley of Tyler, and many nieces and nephews.Marion was preceded in death by her husband Norris, her parents, and a grandson Cameron Smith. A funeral service will take place on Friday, January 27, 2017 at 11:00AM at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home 3110 Airport Rd. Temple, Texas. Graveside services will be held on Friday, January 27, 2017 at 4:00PM at Ratliff-Witt Cemetery in Gainesville. In lieu of flowers memorials to the Ronald McDonald 2415 S. 47th St Temple, Texas 76504.
