

Martha was born on August 31, 1930, in Temple, Texas, to George and Bessie (Sodek) Sula. A lifelong resident of Temple, she was a proud graduate of Temple High School, Class of 1947.
On November 24, 1951, Martha married the love of her life, Alden Schiller. They shared 49 devoted years together until his passing in October of 2000. Their marriage was one of deep love, faith, and family.
Martha dedicated 47 years of service to Scott & White Hospital, where she worked as a radiology technician before retiring in 1995. Her long career was marked by professionalism, compassion, and a strong work ethic. She was a lifetime member of SPJST and long-time member of the American Legion Auxiliary, a faithful member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church for many years, later attending St. Luke Catholic Church, both in Temple.
Family was at the heart of Martha’s life. She is survived by her sister Georgia “Tootsie” Pavlica, her loving daughter, Nita Elizondo of Temple; her son, Alden Schiller, Jr. and wife Barbara of Austin; two cherished grandchildren, Victoria Schiller Givens and husband Michael Slavik of Austin, and Alden Schiller III and wife Alisha of Denver, Colorado; and five adored great-grandchildren, Olivia Givens, Casandra Givens, Veronica Slavik, Lucy Schiller, and Alden Schiller IV. She is also survived by numerous loving nieces and nephews. And by her beloved Malti-Poo “Dolly”.
Besides being with family and friends, which was her greatest joy, she loved gardening and birdwatching; dancing; ladies’ luncheons; and rooting for the Cowboys, Longhorns, Aggies and Red Raiders.
Martha was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Alden Schiller and her siblings Clarence Sula, Francine Huber, Lilian Lamb, Annie Mae Teague, George Sula, Dorothy Mickel, and Adella Fojtasek.
Martha will be remembered for her quiet strength, deep faith, dedication to family, and a lifetime of service to others. Her gentle spirit and loving presence will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026, from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home in Temple. A funeral service will follow at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home, with the Rosary recited at the conclusion of the service.
Burial will take place afterward at Bellwood Memorial Park in Temple.
