Mary Blankenship

Mary Copeland Blankenship, age 76 of Trinidad, died Tuesday October 4, 2011 in an Odessa hospital. Funeral services are scheduled for 4:00 PM, Thursday, October 13, 2011 at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home with Rev. Bruce Copeland officiating. Private burial will follow at Flint Creek Cemetery near Flat, Texas. The family will receive visitors from 6-9:00 PM Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at the funeral home. Mrs. Blankenship was born on June 9, 1935 in Coryell County to the late Charlie Copeland and Essie Ballard Copeland. She attended schools in Flat and Temple. She married Winifred Rodgers in 1952 and they lived in Gatesville, Flat, Belton and Houston. Mary retired from AAFES in Fort Hood after 18 years of service. She was a member of Cold Spring Baptist Church in Flat. Mary was a member of the Trotting Texas Turtles in Killeen, the West Texas Trail Walkers and the East Texas Trail Walkers. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons and one brother. Survivors include a son, Larry Don Rodgers of Trinidad; a sister, Loleta Guenat of Temple; two brothers, Jan Copeland of Trinidad and Charlie Copeland, Jr. of McKinney; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
