Mary was born on March 29, 1924 to Gladys and Archie Sharp. Mary took her place in Heaven on April 18, 2012 after a brief illness. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Norm Ley, her sister Sally Naler and her brother Albert Sharp. Mary is survived by a large, loving family which includes her three daughters, Connie Bennett and husband Tommy Bennett of Houston, TX; Mary Ann Laird and husband Joe Mack Laird of Temple, TX and Pam Wilson and husband Dennis Wilson of Temple, TX; grandchildren, Lissa Hazard, Linda Lee, Joe Laird, Bill Laird, Randa Dissing, Dennis Wilson and Denise Hendry; 13 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter. Mary forged her way as an independent woman. Arriving in Houston in 1966, she started a new career in electrolysis, establishing the Shipp Electolysis Clinic in 1972 which she successfully operated until her death. She was loved and respected by her family and by her large circle of friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Her family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to Leslie, Ellen, Sharon, Fatima, Sharisse and everyone with Vitas Hospice for the caring manner in which they took care of her. We will celebrate Mary's life with a visitation on Friday afternoon, April 20th between 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home located at 3110 Airport Road in Temple, TX with graveside services to be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 21st at Bellwood Memorial Park in Temple, TX with Rev. Jakie Shirley officiating. In lieu of flowers, you may make a donation to the American Cancer Society, or to the church or charitable organization of your choice.
