
Mary Lucy Marks Collier, age 77, of Temple passed away Sunday, January 29, 2006 in a Temple nursing home. Services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, February 1, at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home with Reverend Hubert Austin and Reverend Doug Blackford officiating. Burial will follow at Bellwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be 6 8 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Collier was born November 2, 1928 in Heidenheimer to Luther and Nola Blaylock Marks. She graduated from Temple High School in 1946. She married Herman H. Collier on June 11, 1948 in Goldthwaite and enjoyed over 57 years together before her death. She was a member of the Dawson Class of First United Methodist Church in Temple and a retired State of Texas employee. Mary was a volunteer for scouts, P.T.A., her churches as a Sunday School teacher and Parkview Regional Hospital while living in Mexia. Her favorite work was with the preschoolers at First United Methodist Church of Mexia. Children always brought a twinkle to her eyes. She was preceded in death by two infant daughters, her parents, three brothers, Luther (Sonny), Jennings and George Marks and her sister, Mattie Mae Lasley. Mrs. Collier is survived by her husband, Herman, her son, Michael Collier and wife, Jean of Haltom City and three grandchildren, Christopher, Jenna and Lauren. Also survived by one brother, Harold Marks and wife, Joe Ann of Heidenheimer, beloved in-laws, Dorothy Marks of Temple, Elise Marks of Wichita Falls, Lottie Marks of Springfield, MO, Mildred Horton and husband, V. T. of Goldthwaite, Elizabeth Hiller of Abilene, Edna Head and husband, Darrell of Center City, Ernest Hiller of Eagle Pass and numerous nieces and nephews.
