Mattie Maye Wigginton

Mattie Maye Wigginton, age 82 of Temple, died Saturday, May 19, 2012 at a local hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Loudin officiating. Burial will follow at Bellwood Memorial Park. The family will receive visitors from 6-8:00 PM, Monday, May 21, 2012 at the funeral home. Mattie was born on July 26, 1929 in D'Lo, Miss. to the late Thomas J. Wigington and Lela Mae Mason Wigington. She attended schools in Mendenhall, Miss. and graduated from Mendenhall High School. She married George B. Wigginton on April 3, 1955. Mattie was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Temple where she was the church secretary for many years. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George B. Wigginton; and a brother, John Thomas Wigington. Survivors include a daughter, Bobbye Wigginton of Temple; two sons, Richard (Rick) Wigginton of Temple and John Wigginton of Temple; a sister, Bobbie Powell of Jacksonville, Fla; one grandson, two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made in Mattie's name to Immanuel Baptist Church, Children's Camp Fund.
