

Funeral services for Max Stanley Winkler, 63, of The Grove will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday at St. Paul Lutheran Church at The Grove with Rev. John Heckmann officiating. Burial will be in Bellwood Memorial Park. Mr. Winkler died Friday at his residence. Mr. Winkler was born December 23, 1944 to Elmo Winkler Sr. and Mamie Schkade Winkler. He lived at The Grove his entire life. He graduated from Belton High School and attended Tarleton State University in Stephenville. He married Miriam Draeger June 4, 1966. He was a lifelong rancher and was employed by Sears as a Technician and Technician Manager for thirty four years after which he started Winkler Trucking. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where he served as an Elder and President of the Congregation. He was an active member and served on the Board of The Grove Water Supply Corporation, The Grove Volunteer Fire Department and The Grove Community Center for numerous years. Survivors include his wife Miriam Winkler of The Grove; his son Steve Winkler and wife, Shea of The Grove; his daughter Stephanie Sohns and husband, Tim of The Grove; his brothers Elmo Winkler Jr. and wife, Peggy of The Grove and Glenn Winkler and wife, Mary of The Grove and two grandchildren, Kadden Sohns and McKenzie Winkler both of The Grove. Also surviving is a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dewayne and Lydia Draeger of The Grove and countless nieces, nephews and friends. Memorials may be made to the St. Paul Lutheran Church Refurbishing Fund. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home.
