Melvin "Peanut" Fowler

A visitation will take place on Friday, April 5, 2019 from 6:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home 3110 Airport Rd.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home followed by burial at Hillcrest Cemetery in Temple.

He is survived by son Timothy Fowler of Heidenheimer, TX, five step-children; Cynthia “Sam” Grouss of Moody, TX, Patricia Coulter of Lima, OH, Timothy “Toby” Teeters of Temple, TX, Ronald Teeters of Willis, TX, and Kevin Teeters of Celina, OH, 16 grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren.

Peanut is also survived by his mother RosaBess Smith of Okmulgee, OK, sisters; Mary Lee Myers of Checotah, OK and Kathy Northcross of Okmulgee, OK, brothers; John “Mike” Fowler of Stroud, OK, Joe Fowler of Pryor, OK, Floyd Fowler of Huntsville, TX, and James Leon Fowler of Midwest City, OK.

He was preceded in death by his wife Virginia and his father Joseph.

He met and married his wife Virginia in Houston, TX in 1979. They then moved to Temple where they opened a tavern called “Peanuts”. He enjoyed meeting people and playing pool in his tavern and playing in pool leagues.

In lieu of flowers memorials to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital would be appreciated.
