Funeral services for Mildred Smith, 86, of Temple will be held at 4:00 P.M. Thursday January 4, 2007 at Scanio Harper Funeral Home with Rev. Eddie Humphrey officiating. Burial will be at 1:00 P.M. Friday at Forest Park East in Houston. Visitation will be from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. Wednesday at the Funeral Home. Mrs. Smith died Tuesday January 2, 2007 in a Temple hospital. Mrs. Smith was born in Blevins to James McCoy and Minnie Miller McCoy. She graduated from the Scott and White School of Nursing, having attained her Registered Nursing degree. She served in the Army as a nurse during World War II. She married Franklin L. Smith January 1, 1949. He preceded her in death in 1972. She moved to Temple from Houston in 1976 and worked at Santa Fe Hospital. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. Survivors include one son James Smith of Houston, one daughter Nita Rider of Temple; three sisters Bonnie Osburn and Lucille Krueger of Temple and Hazel Dooley of San Angelo and two grandchildren.
