Miriam "Faye" Smith

Miriam “Faye” Smith, age 93 of Fairfield, formerly of Temple, died Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at Fairview Healthcare Center in Fairfield. Graveside services will be held at 4:00pm Saturday, April 14, 2018 at Bellwood Memorial Park. The family will receive visitors from 2-3:00pm Saturday, April 28, 2018 at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home.   Mrs. Smith was born on November 1, 1924 in Cameron, Texas to the late George Sharp and Effie May Sharp. She graduated from Temple High School. She married Homer Ray Smith on May 22, 1943 in Temple. Mr. Smith preceded her in death on September 23, 2011. She was a housewife and a dedicated member of Leon Valley Church of Christ in Temple. She was preceded in death by two infants; her husband of 68 years, Homer Ray Smith; a brother, Homer Sharp; and two sisters, Tennie Goger and Georgia McCormick. Survivors include a son, Larry Smith and wife Sandy of Fairfield, Texas; two grandchildren, Melissa Wright and husband Mike of Longview and Glen Smith and wife Areen of Schaumberg, Illinois; three great grandchildren, Baker Knight of College Station, Texas, Morgan Knight of Abilene, Texas and Garrison Knight of Longview, Texas; and a host of nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Mrs. Smith’s name to Providence Hospice, 107 E. Commerce St., Mexia, Texas 76667.
