On January 29, 1933, Naomi Ruth Vasek was born at her family’s home in Zabcikville, Texas, to Emil and Verlie Vasek. She was the second of five children and grew up in the country, where life was simple, busy, and full of family and hard work. From an early age, Naomi developed a strong sense of responsibility and resilience, helping her family while forming the values that would guide her for the rest of her life.
On April 22, 1950, Naomi married Eugene Wilde. They weathered life’s ups and downs side by side for 52 years until Eugene’s passing in 2002. They were blessed with one daughter, Sharon Wilde Crump. As a mother, Naomi raised Sharon with love, care, and compassion.
Naomi and Eugene began their married life living around the Temple area, and later moved to Pasadena, where they would spend the rest of their years. Throughout her life, Naomi wore many hats and worked diligently in each role. She worked in a local shoe factory, prepared nourishing meals as a cafeteria worker for Pasadena Independent School District, and worked in the Central Processing department at Bayshore Hospital. Her meticulous nature and strong work ethic made her an invaluable part of every team she joined, and she retired after many years of loyal service. She then poured her heart into the things that brought her joy, which included her beloved (and frequent) visits to Walmart.
Naomi had a deep love for cooking and canning vegetables she grew in her garden, and it was through her kitchen that she expressed her love for family and friends. Whether it was a warm meal shared around the table or a freshly baked loaf of banana bread, Naomi’s dishes were a reflection of her heart. She took great joy in preparing food, not just as a necessity, but as a way to bring people together, to nurture them, and to show them how much they meant to her. Her home was always filled with the comforting aroma of her cooking, and every meal she prepared was served with a generous portion of love.
Family was the cornerstone of Naomi’s world. Known for her kindness and generosity, she was always the first to lend a hand, offer a comforting word, or simply be there when needed. She relished time spent with her ever-growing family, finding great pride and joy in seeing each new generation flourish. Naomi’s long and healthy life was a true blessing, and she lived to meet her great-great-great-grandchildren, a rare and special milestone that spoke to the enduring strength of her spirit and legacy.
Naomi had a deep and unwavering love for animals, a passion that demonstrated who she was as a person. Over the years, her home was a haven for countless dogs and cats, each one spoiled and given a lifetime of love and devotion. She enjoyed quiet moments with her beloved pets and loved watching the birds gather at her feeders. Naomi had a special way of connecting with animals that was both tender and profound, and she often donated to the SPCA to help animals in need.
She was the embodiment of kindness and compassion, always placing the needs of others before her own without hesitation or complaint. Whether offering a listening ear, a helping hand, or a warm smile, she had a quiet way of making everyone feel seen, heard, and valued. Her selflessness touched countless lives, not through grand gestures, but through everyday acts of love and generosity that left a lasting impact. To know Naomi was to know true grace and an unwavering heart.
Naomi is now reunited with every cherished soul - both the beloved companions who once walked softly through her home and the dear loved ones who shared her life. Surrounded once more by those she held closest in heart, she rests peacefully in the embrace of everlasting love.
She is survived by her sister Shirley Snow and brother James Vasek; grandchildren: David Crump, Barbara Hebert and husband Don, Leslie Fitzhenry, Steven Crump and wife Liz; great-grandchildren: Danny Crump, Chris Dennis and wife Julianne, Tiffany Sturman and husband Jon, Troy Dennis, Jennifer Crump, Candace Howard and husband Matt, Sean Crump and wife Katelyn, Devin Fitzhenry, Mayson Crump, Wyatt Crump; great-great-grandchildren: Hunter Dennis and wife Shyanne, Haven Crump, CJ Crump, Coleson Dorsett, Conner Dennis, Ella Sturman, Gavin Sturman, Raeleigh Dennis, Cooper Dorsett, Annabelle Howard, Ashton Howard, Charlotte Crump; great-great-great-grandchildren: Axtyn Boles, Beaux Dennis, Bodee Boles; and a host of loving family and friends.
