Neomi R. Cardenas

Neomi Cardenas departed this life on Thursday, July 31st, 2014, at the age of 70, after battling a long illness. She was born in Uvalde, Texas in 1944 and had 9 siblings. She moved to Rockford, Illinois with Arnulfo Cardenas at the age of 20 to start a new adventure and to start her family, which was her pride and joy. Neomi and Arnulfo had 5 wonderful children: Arnulfo Cardenas Jr 'Arnie', David Cardenas (Elizabeth), Serina Starnes (Darren), Jessica Cardenas, and Agustine Cardenas 'Augie'. They had 13 grandchildren: Jessie, Miranda, Veronica, Angelica, David Jr, Antonio, Alex, Annalisa, Cortney, Zachary, Nevada, Jacob and Xxavien. They had 3 great-grandchildren: Lily, Matthew and Vivianna.Neomi was a family woman, Mariachi singer, excellent cook, and a blessing to all who knew her. She was a pioneer, not only to leave Texas but also to work at a time when most women did not. Always a wonderful host, Neomi loved spending time with family and celebrating their accomplishments. She remained adventurous throughout her life having passed while doing what she loved the most, visiting and singing with family.
