

Nora Forrest, lifelong resident of the Troy-Oenaville area, passed away peacefully January 17, 2017 in Hamilton Hospital. She was born May 15, 1922 in Salado, Texas to Charlie and Maude Anderson. She was the oldest of seven children. Services will be held at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home in Temple Saturday, January 21st at 2:00 P.M. with burial at Oenaville Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, January 20th from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. She loved her Lord, children, gardening and always had a smile to offer along with the quirky sense of humor. If she saw a baby she just had to touch it. She also liked reading. At 94 years old she still had a wide-eyed sense of wonder about things that most people take for granted. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe (JB) Forrest, her parents, Charlie and Maude Anderson, two brothers, Lee Roy Anderson, Sr., James (Bill) Anderson, two sisters, Laura Mae Anderson-Cole, Thetty Mae Anderson-Andries, two grandchildren, Robert Forrest and Lori Forrest. She is survived by six children, Billy Joe Forrest and wife Connie of Poteet, Texas, Darrell Wayne Forrest and wife Kathy of Port Aransas, Texas, Karen Calhoun and husband John of Seguin, Texas, Doug Forrest of San Antonio, Texas, Betty Harden and husband Bo of Blanket, Texas and Mark Forrest and wife Shelia of Temple, Texas. She also leaves behind eight grandchildren she adored, Billy Forrest of Somerset, Texas, Peggy Dresch and husband John, Sr. of Devine, Texas, Darrell (DJ) Forrest of College Station, Texas, Megan Forrest of College Station, Texas, Debra Calhoun of Cibolo, Texas, Joni Casias and husband John of Helotes, Texas, and John Calhoun, Jr. and wife Shannon of Anthony, Texas and Ciara Harden of Blanket, Texas. She is survived by fourteen great-grandchildren, John Dresch, Jr. and wife Layla, Wesley Dresch and wife Hillary, Jennifer Obaya and husband John, Thomas Dresch, Evelyn Forrest, Sean Calhoun, Caitlyn Calhoun, Ryker Dempsey, Sarah Paciocco, Justin Jonas and Serena Jonas, Kristen Thompson and husband Camden, Autumn Calhoun and Hollie Calhoun. She has eight great-great grandchildren, Aiden, Adelynn, Ava, Blaine, Audrey, Brooke, Kaia and Charlotte. She is also survived by two brothers, Jansing (JD) Anderson and Mollie, and Thomas Anderson and wife Jane and numerous nieces and nephews, as well as many children (adults now) that she loved as much as her own that she had provided childcare for many years.
