Patricia Ann Ibarra Britt, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, aunt, friend, and teacher, passed away May 8, 2026 after a long and courageous battle following heart surgery and complications. Patsy was born in Temple, Texas to Betty and Dr. Jesse Ibarra Jr. She grew up in Temple and lived her adult life in the Temple-Belton area. Patsy graduated from Temple High School in 1965, attended Incarnate Word College, The University of Texas in Austin, and graduated from Mary Hardin Baylor in Belton.
Patsy's greatest joy was being a mother to her son, Chris. The loyalty the two shared was unmatched. The ultimate happiness for Patsy was anytime she spent with her three granddaughters, Lisbeth, Hope, and Jesse.
Patsy remained in the Temple-Belton area most of her entire life. Her Temple/Belton high school friends have remained close. Patsy’s love for children was her most beautiful gift. She was genuinely interested and concerned about every single child in her life. Patsy spent 37 years as a devoted elementary physical education teacher. She taught in Temple (Jefferson) and in Belton (Central and Pirtle). Her favorite time was getting to school very early and greeting each student as they were dropped off at school. While in the hospital she was greeted by some of her former students who are now working in the medical fields. Their continued love for her was evident.
Patsy loved to travel and most of her adventures were with her dearest friends Margaret and Larry Wright. Even during her illness Patsy continued to laugh and share stories with them.
Patsy and her siblings, Beth and Danny, had an unusually strong sibling bond. In the almost eight decades together the three never argued or had a sibling “fight”. From small toddlers to “grown and old” Patsy, Beth and Danny treasured their time together always planning “sibling time" throughout the years.
Patsy and her family are so grateful and appreciative to all the friends and family who cared for her this past year. There are too many to list but each of you knows who you are and how much Patsy loved you. The kindness, prayers, and love were so helpful throughout her illness. Patsy’s family is especially grateful to Colleen McGuire for her compassionate care for the past fifteen months especially with handling all the medical care necessary for Patsy. Patsy's best friends/neighbors, Margaret and Larry, who have been on constant watch and care during her illness have been the biggest blessing to the family.
Patsy was preceded in death by her parents Dr. Jesse and Betty Ibarra. She is survived by her son, Christopher Britt and her three granddaughters Lisbeth Nicholson (Caleb), Hope Britt, and Jesse Britt and their mother Wendy Britt, sister Beth Baetz (Randy), brother, Danny Ibarra (Terri), Margaret and Larry Wright (Wendy), Tina Hill, numerous nieces/nephews Annamarie Falvo (Mark), Jessica Press (Ryan), Bert Baetz (Sarah), J.D. Ibarra IV (Leslie) and great nieces and nephews, Victor, Betty, Jolie, Jax, Jacey, Eloise, Oliver, Stella, and Gwen, Ibarra families, Ward families and Tharp family. Patsy’s extended family includes the families/children of the Britts, Colleen McGuire and Watts, Wrights, Dunhams, Colleen McGuire and Watts, Dippels, and Lamberths.
A private burial will be held with a memorial service at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 at Christ Episcopal Church in Temple, with Patsy's nephew, Rev. Bert Baetz officiating.
