Peggy Joyce Blackwell

Peggy Joyce Blackwell, age 86, of Moody, Texas, formerly of Temple, passed away on October 27, 2026. Born on January 16, 1940, in Bonham, Texas, she was the daughter of T.B. Landers and Ella Gereda (Rhea) Landers.

Peggy devoted her life to her family as a homemaker, finding purpose in caring for those she loved. She will be remembered by those who knew her and cherished by the family who will carry her memory forward.

Peggy is survived by her daughter, Traci Newman and her husband, Max, of Moody; seven grandchildren, Collin Mayo and his wife, Carissa; Jason Mayo and his wife, Cassidy; Colton Mayo and his wife, Tori; Rheagan Smith and her husband, Kevin; Roxanne Cabrera and her husband, Sebastian; Jarrod Newman and his wife, Lindsay; and Derek Newman and his wife, Dominique; and fourteen great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by her sister, Dean Dunaway and her husband, Raymond, of North Richland Hills, Texas; her daughter-in-law, Lilah Blackwell, of Conroe, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Peggy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Rodney Blackwell; her son, James Blackwell; her parents, T.B. and Gereda Landers; and her sister, Billy Landers.

Peggy's life was defined by the family she loved and the memories she leaves behind. Though she will be deeply missed, the love she gave and the lives she touched will continue to live on through the generations of her family.
