Phyllis Merfeld

Phyllis Merfeld of Temple died Sunday, December 6, 2009 in a Temple hospital. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday December 17, 2009 at the Bellmead Calvary Baptist Church in Waco, Texas. Phyllis was born in Rockford, Iowa to Elmer and Fern Smith Merfeld. She attended schools in Charles City, Iowa and Forest Lake, Minnesota. She lived and worked in Iowa, Minnesota, Hawaii, Texas, Oklahoma, Tennessee and retired from a nuclear power plant in Maine. Phyllis loved to dance, bowl and crochet. She attended a Baptist church in Waco. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson, Ryan Wood. Survivors include one daughter, Linda McMahon of Iowa; three sons, CW3 Leslie Wood and wife MaryAnn of Florida, Larry Wood and wife Kris of Iowa, and Rex Wood wife Becky of Minnesota; twelve grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Claudia Isaacs and husband Eugene of Minnesota. Three nieces and one nephew; her lifelong friend and sister in law Jean Wood of Iowa and many special friends in Texas. She also left behind her beloved dogs, Jake and Magnum.
