Joy,Anne and I are soooo sorry to hear of Ray’s death. We have wanted to come for a visit, we’ll have to come soon.

I worked on some of Mr. Davis's construction sites in Oakland, CA - for our STV railroad client there.  He was a Texas gentleman, safety-first and no-nonsense while we were working, then after a long day of hard work, he would take the time to share a funny story, pictures of his ranch, and linger a minute to chat.  He had the most consistent, amazing work ethic and always insisted that each detail was to a high standard for his clients.  He loved his wife Joy very much, and his heart was always home with her in Texas, no matter where he was working.  He left a massive hole in the team.  Prayers for peace for Joy and his family during this time of loss - there are no words for this type of grief.

I am so sorry to hear of Ray's passing, please accept our condolences from the IEEE OCS Sub-Committee. Ray's expertise in our industry will be missed, he has helped numerous agencies over the years. I have known Ray for nearly 20 years, in every occasion I had to work with and share personal time with him I always came away from the experience a better person because of his wisdom and genuine friendship. I will miss Ray dearly and am grateful for the time we had together. Rest in peace my dear friend and may God also grant peace to your family who have experienced this great loss.  Your contribution to our lives will live forever.

A natural leader, he inspired us to be better engineers.  Always solved problems with a touch of charm.  Miss him greatly in Seattle.

As a co-worker, one could hear Ray's voice coming down the hall full of excitement and determination.  I appreciated his honesty and being the conscientious man that he was.  My thoughts and prayers to his family and loved ones.

So sorry to hear of Ray's passing. Although we had very brief conversations over the years   during meetings I did always welcome his thoughts and his big laughs. We did connect on Facebook and  it was always great to see his posts about his family ,friends and his life.

I met Ray in 1999 during the IEEE meetings.  He was always helpful with ideas.  Ray always brought life to a room when he entered with laughter. My deepest sympathies at this time for Ray's family

I worked with Joy many years and love Ray and Joy as my brother and sister. Ray was so funny and just made you feel good when he was around. He told me he had another wife “Big Red” and he hauled her around in a trailer she was so big!  That’s Ray!!  Love you both so much! May God be with you today and every day. 

I worked with Ray on several projects in California. Professionally Ray was a tremendous colleague with deep knowledge of traction power in the factory and in the field. As a person Ray was honest, forthright, firm in his convictions, and had iron integrity. I learned a lot from him and so appreciated knowing him. And I will say he had the greatest tolerance for hot chilies of anyone I ever met.

My heart is broken but I know our God has you now. I love y’all so much and I’m so sorry I couldn’t be there for my sister. I’m praying for all of you. I love you Ray and I will miss you dearly.

Ray would always help someone in need, all one had to do was ask.
He was  a kind and wonderful man and will be missed by many.
We extend our sympathies to his wife Joy and family.

Ray was a shot of energy. But the most fun was when Ray and Joy would be together making the whole group laugh. Whenever Joy would share a meal together with our team in Chicago, it was guaranteed to be a good time. Ray was able to tell stories, joke, get to know everyone on a jobsite, but also sit down and focus intensely on a problem. He had great stories about teaching the kids how to get in trouble on the ranch, going to dances and rodeos in his youth, and all the projects he had the opportunity to work on. Ray always took time to teach our staff and he helped push for improved safety measures across the industry and on our projects. He will be greatly missed.

As one my esteemed colleagues, Ray will be greatly missed for his knowledge, wisdom and stories.  It was a blessing to know him over the past 20 years.  He called it as he saw it and was always straight to the point and didn’t mince any words. I look forward to “waking up” early one of these days to continue our lively conversations about family, work and playing with the cows.

Blessed to have shared a few moments of life with Ray (IEEE and field work). Always dynamic, warm caring, rich in experiences and happy to share!

I had the fortunate experience to meet Ray in St. Louis in 1999 on a Bi-State project and we had been friends every since from coast to coast.  A true legend in the electrification industry and one to always be there to jump in and help.
Ray, you will be missed but not forgotten.

Ray was a giant in the transit industry, a colleague, and a truly kind person. Plus, he was a lot of fun to be with. Kathy and I extend our sympathies to his wife Joy and Ray's family and we will always remember him.

Ray was a friend and colleague with whom I enjoyed swapping stories at IEEE meetings. The one about the alligator comes to mind as well as the one where he wasn't about to be shone up by one of his young underlings so walked a long distance of track in his cowboy boots. Ray came to the meeting in sneakers as his feet were so sore. I will miss you. Rest in peace my friend.

We are heartbroken to have lost a great friend this man taught my kids so much over the years from building fences, how to install a battery on lawnmower, building a dam in the pond , loading hay bales for the animals, & so much more. The last couples weeks my boys spent a lot of time with him and I can still hear him yelling “andale andale!” He was so funny and full of life always working and willing to help in any way he could. Prayers for his family and especially his wife Joy Davis we love you and here for anything you need. We will miss you Ray Davis thank you for everything

Ray was a great man with a big heart. I spent quite some time with him working on a couple of power projects in Oakland. He was always a gentleman, always cool and always professional. May he rest in peace. I will always treasure my time with Ray. May God be with his family.

Ray was a wonderful friend, co-worker and mentor for many people.

Ray was one of the most interesting people that I had the pleasure to work with over the last few years.  He was always kind and I enjoyed talking to him.  His expertise and knowledge were appreciated by our clients and he will be missed.

I met Ray two years ago when I moved to California, He will mostly be remembered and missed, of the stories he shared about his farm, Love for his family, his dedication to his job. He was truly a honest and trustworthy co-worker,
and friend.

Ray shared all that he knew with anyone that asked. I talked with Ray roughly 5 weeks ago and he gave so much information on sub-stations without delay and he was a true public servant and a gifted leader. Our trip to Eugene, Oregon to examine a hi-rail under bridge inspection truck was so amazing for me. Ray pointing to all the hillside pastures and telling my that is why your steaks are rough unlike the steaks from Texas. I will always treasure the time that I had with Ray!  My condolences to you and your family.
