
Raymond B. Sanders, age 80, of Little River died Friday, May 4, 2007 in a local hospital. Services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, May 7, at Little River United Methodist Church with Dr. Linda Mitchell and Rev. Don Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Wilson Valley Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 5 PM Sunday at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home. Mr. Sanders was born May 23, 1926 in Cameron to Felix Ervin and Harvie Victoria Burns Sanders. He had been a resident of Little River for the past 44 years. He married Margie Lee Moses on January 25, 1947. She preceded him in death on March 30, 2007. He served in the U. S. Navy during WWII and retired from the Army National Guard in 1986. He worked as a nursing assistant at the Temple V. A. Hospital for 36 years. He was a member of Little River United Methodist Church for the past 44 years where he held several offices. The kitchen at the church was dedicated in his honor. He was also a member of the Little River Lions Club, the Little River Volunteer Fire Dept. and the Belton Masonic Lodge #166 where was a 32nd Degree Mason. He was a member of the Little River-Academy city council for 21 years. He was an avid outdoorsman and especially loved to deer hunt. He was also preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Marsha Ann Sanders. Survivors include one daughter, Sharon DePriest of Little River and one son, Terry Dobbs of Little River, one sister, Nancy Light of Salado and two brothers, Harvey Ray Sanders of Irving and Roy Sanders of Modesto, California. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to Little River United Methodist Church.
