Richard "Red" Lon Hester

Richard Lon (Red) Hester, a hard-working and adventurous soul, passed away on November 20, 2025, at the age of 87. Born on September 29, 1938, in Bell County, Texas, Richard lived a life full of dedication and exploration.

Red loved trucking and anything to do with trucks. He got started when he was 14 years old. His favorite were Peterbilt Trucks. He had one specially designed the way he wanted with lots of Chrome.

Preceded in death by his parents; wife, Gaylene Hester; Son, Richard Gayle Hester; and sisters, Nell Koonce and Jean Moon.

Survived by his wife, Donna Jean Humphrey; sister, Ruth Powell and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A visitation will be held at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home, located at 3110 Airport Rd., Temple, Texas, 76504, on Monday, November 24, 2025, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

A graveside service will follow on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at Hillcrest Cemetery, 1873 N. 1st St., Temple, Texas, 76501, beginning at 2:00 pm with Mike Baggerly officiating.

Richard Lon (Red) Hester will be remembered for his adventurous nature and hard-working spirit, leaving behind a legacy cherished by family and friends.
