Rick spent his early childhood in Tabor City, NC. He moved to Florence, SC, in Jr. High School and graduated from West Florence High School in 1975. During his life Rick enjoyed many activities and hobbies. He was an avid reader, raced motorcycles on the drag strip, collected model trains and old LP albums, and enjoyed playing video games and watching the Boston Celtics with his son. Rick was a devout Christian who loved his Lord and Savior. Throughout his life he was diligently involved in the church where he volunteered as a Deacon and in the choir. Having worked for many years in air freight, he retired as a CSR for Carroll Tire Company after 20 years due to his health. Rick lived in Florence, SC, until 2022 when he and his wife moved to Temple, TX, to be near his son and his family. He was a member of First Baptist Church Temple.
Rick is survived by Beth McNeill Phipps, his wife of 33 years, and his son Timothy (Jenna) Phipps and their precious son, Atlas, all of Belton, Texas; Also, by sisters Cheryl (Danny) Bailey and Deborah Phipps both of Florence and many other extended family members.
