

Robert T. “Bob” Farrell, age 83 of Temple, died Sunday, November 4, 2018 at a local hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm Thursday, November 8, 2018 at First United Methodist Church of Temple with Dr. Tom Robbins officiating. Private family burial will be at Hillcrest Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 5-7:00pm Wednesday November 7, 2018 at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home.
Mr. Farrell was born on March 11, 1935 in Temple, Texas to the late Emmitt Farrell and Sadie Honeycutt Farrell. He attended schools in Temple and graduated from Temple High School in 1953 where he was a stellar football player. He attended the University of Texas where he also played football. On September 24, 1960, he married the former Sandra Skelton at the First United Methodist Church in Temple. Bob worked for Starnes Herring Menswear, Herring Menswear and owned Farrell Men’s Clothing Store in Temple. He later worked in the men’s department of Dillard’s in Temple for 40 years. Bob was past president of the Taylor Lion’s Club as well as Western Hills PTO. He was also a proud member of the Temple Founder Lions Club and was Lion of the year in 2017 and was a member of Temple Quarterback Club and Methodist Men. Bob officiated football with the SFOA and coached little league. He loved golfing, gardening, barbequing, and was an avid University of Texas and Dallas Cowboy football fan. Bob loved teasing his grandchildren as well as teaching them how to be friendly to everyone. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Katherine Doshier.
Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Sandra Farrell of Temple; three sons, Greg Farrell and wife Theresa of Waco, Byron Farrell of Houston and Brad Farrell of Austin; six grandchildren, Meghan Fuhrmann, Molly Farrell, Sean Farrell, Patrick Farrell, Corinne Farrell and Ian Farrell.
