Robert Earl Brown

Robert “Robbie” Earl Brown, 61, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 29, 2026. He was a man who found purpose in hard work, joy in the outdoors, and happiness in spending time with the people and animals he loved most.

Born on November 12, 1964, at the old Kings Daughters Hospital in Temple, Texas, Robbie was the son of Darrell and Ernestine (Taylor) Brown, a proud graduate of Temple High School, and a member of Heights Baptist Church. Robbie was a gifted mechanic with a talent for fixing just about anything, he spent his career working with his hands. He worked for John Deere repairing farm equipment before joining Blackland Implement Company in Temple. Earlier in his career, he worked for Cloud Construction, drove for McLane Company and Downing Trucking, and eventually fulfilled a dream by purchasing and operating his own trucking company. Whether in the shop, on the farm, or helping someone in need, Robbie was happiest when he was building, repairing, or solving a problem.

Robbie also had a lifelong passion for hunting and took great pride in passing that tradition on to his children and grandson. He believed hunting was about much more than the hunt—it was about respect, responsibility, patience, and safety. Patiently teaching firearm safety and outdoor skills to the next generation was one of his greatest joys. During the past year, Robbie picked up candle making as a new hobby. It gave him another excuse to stay busy and work with his hands while slowing down.

Family was the center of Robbie’s life. Better known as “Pawpaw,” he treasured every visit with his grandchildren and even found time to cheer Brodie on at baseball games this past season. His quiet strength, dependable nature, generous heart, and willingness to help anyone in need are the qualities that will be remembered most.

Robbie also spent several years serving his community as a dedicated member of the Bell County Sheriff’s Posse, where he formed lasting friendships while supporting local events and public service efforts.

He is survived by his sons, Corey Brown and his partner, John Salazar, of Round Rock; Chad Brown and his wife, Ellie, of Dallas; and Colton Brown and his wife, Michelle, of Moffat; his beloved grandchildren, Berkley, Brodie, and Lanie Brown; his mother, Ernestine Brown of Moffat; his brother, Darrell Wayne Brown and his wife, LaFonda, of Moffat; and his sweet dog, Molly Ann.

He was preceded in death by his father, Darrell Brown, and his sister, Anita Sue Brown.

Robbie will be remembered as a true man’s man—a hardworking mechanic, an avid hunter, a loyal friend, a devoted father, and, above all, a proud Pawpaw. If something was broken, Robbie could usually fix it. More importantly, if someone needed help, he was always willing to lend a hand. His legacy lives on in the hands he taught, the lives he touched, and the family who will carry his love of hard work, the outdoors, and helping others for generations to come.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorial donations be made to the Moffat Volunteer Fire Department in Robbie’s memory.

Visitation will be held at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home, 3110 Airport Rd, Temple, TX 76504, US, on August 15, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, followed by a Funeral Service at the same location on August 15, 2026, at 11:00 am.

A Committal Service will take place at Moffat Cemetery, 13956 TX-36, Moody, TX 76557, US.
