Robert Randolph Secrest, age 76, passed away at a local nursing care facility in Temple on Monday, April 1, 2024. He was born on March 1, 1948 in Temple, Texas to Frances Tinsley Secrest and Jarrard Secrest.
He graduated from Temple High School in 1966 and then from the University of Texas in 1972.
He was preceded in death by his parents and step-father, William B. Barrett.
He was a long-time member of First Methodist Church in Temple. While Robert was born and reared in Temple, most of his life outside Temple was spent living on the West Coast in San Francisco and on the East Coast in New York City. He was a lover of people, music, food, culture, and art. Robert was truly ‘one-of-a-kind’ and will be missed by all those he leaves behind.
He is survived by his brother, Jerry Secrest and wife, Ann, of Temple; nephew, Jarrard Kimbriel Secrest and wife, Jennifer, of San Antonio; great-niece, Adrian Cebula of Houston; great-niece, Haley Secrest of San Antonio; nephew, James Randolph Secrest and wife, Ariane, of Temple; great-nephew Preston Lewis Secrest of Sanford, Florida; great-niece, Tinsley Artz Secrest of Charleston, South Carolina; many cousins; and numerous friends who loved him dearly.
A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at Bellwood Memorial Park in Temple. The service will be officiated by Dr. Tom Robbins. Memorials may be made to First Methodist Church in Temple.
