

On Saturday, March 12, 2022, Robert (Bob) Ziegler was called to his heavenly home after a long battle with cancer at the age of 82. He was born March 26, 1939, to June and RJ Ziegler, His childhood was spent working at his father’s sawmill and fishing with Pappy (his grandfather) in Rockville, MO. He was a solid athlete, playing basketball and baseball in high school and served his country as an MP in the Army.
He married Mary Ziegler on December 31, 1971, in Odessa, MO, and moved to Temple, TX, the next day and never left Central Texas.He shared his passion for baseball and fishing throughout his life as an umpire, coach, and guide. He was quick to volunteer as a baseball coach for each of his three boys, and he traveled throughout the state of Texas supporting his children’s passions. In his later years, he pursued his love of fishing throughout Texas and Missouri to pursue catfish and relationships with his family. He was known for his wise words, quick wit, and kind heart. His legacy will be the lessons he taught on a ball field or at the grip of a fishing pole, lessons of hard work, patience, and passion for the people you love.
He is survived by his wife Mary, three siblings, Wilda Ziegler, Nola Ziegler, Robyn Ziegler and his wife Kim, five children, Tracy Ziegler and his wife Donna, Angie Volkmer and her husband Mark, Shelby Rogers and her husband James, Charles Ziegler, and Chris Ziegler and his wife Allison, nine grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
