My thoughts and prayers are with you all. I loved Sister Prescott so much.  She is an amazing  daughter of God and I was honored and privileged to know and love her.  I pray for peace and comfort for you all.

I remember Nana came over to visit when I was younger and she gave me this beautiful beaded necklace it was so beautiful and intricate. Every year she would also send me cards with the sweetest things in them just to let me know she loves me. 

I was blessed to call Shanna one of my friends. She was someone I knew cared about her friends, and one could tell it  by the smile she gave when she looked at you. I appreciated her sense of humor and her ability to be down to earth and not put on airs. I could also tell how very much she loved, adored and was proud of her family. I can imagine that although she misses and will miss you all for a season, and looks forward to when you all can be together again, she is very, very happy right now!  I can picture her big smile. Our good wishes and prayers for all the family as you celebrate her life.

Shanna was a kind and thoughtful lady to me and she was such a caring Nana to my two daughters. When she came to visit she would read the girls stories and play games with them for hours. As they got older they'd talk about school and sports and how things were going in general.
During the years I was her daughter-in-law she always made a point to call or write to me and stay in touch even though we lived far away from each other. 
In the past few years I was lucky to be able to get closer to her.  Even though I was no longer her daughter-in-law, she continued to send me thoughtful well-wishes, cards and texts for mother's day or my birthday or just because.  Over the past four years we started to talk more often. It was nice to share some ups and downs in each other's lives. She would tell stories about her past or what was going on in her day. She was a complex woman who had joys and sorrows, proud moments and regrets but most of all, she sure loved her family.
She enjoyed simple things like a good tv show or reading a good book. This summer she finished 6 Gerald Lund books and was looking forward to his next series. She helped care for her mother-in-law. She loved her children and grandchildren so much and bragged on them and was interested in their lives and how they were really doing. She was a wonderfully attentive grandmother from afar. 
The cute little stuffed animal she gave my oldest daughter when she was born became the favorite and has been passed down and will be passed down for generations to come. 
Her Christmas and Birthday cards were always the first to arrive. 
True to form, a birthday card for her granddaughter, Eliza arrived in the mail just two days ago. Eliza opened it and was so sad but happy too, that she got to hear from Nana again. 
We'll miss her. 

Mama Prescott is how I affectionately thought of her. I had the great privilege of growing up in Temple as one of Jim's Eagle Scouts, a close friend to Kelly and Susie,  and one of many "adopted" children she picked up along the way.  She was like another mom to me, there was a time when I would visit her more often than my own mother. She was always there to listen to whatever was going on in my life. There were times when I would go over to see her more than the girls. I will always honor her memory by being the best I can be. Thank you Shanna. I will always love you.

For here and now we miss you and the tears come easily but words don't. Thank you for your sweet spirit, for your loving guidence, for your easy smile. So much more. For making me feel like you always had me by the hand.  To Jim and family...prayers for your strength and peace...and for your health to be  intact as you grieve. And then I hope all our energy can go into wishing her home and knowing her when we get there too. Hugs. Til we meet again.
