Shirley (known to many, as Nana) was born August 3rd, 1935, in Andice, TX, to parents Kurt and Ollie Meyer.
She met her husband Winfred Sladek, and were married 44 years from 1956 to his passing in 2000. Out of this union they had 2 daughters, Denise and Cynthia. She went on to maintain their household and support her family by always having fresh hot food on the table, fresh sheets, clean clothes, and conversation. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother
She was an avid reader, she enjoyed feeding her birds every morning and watching them, and she LOVED a good steak, and loved her animals. Especially her little dog Lady that was her constant companion and company in her last couple of years. She also loved shopping, thrift stores and book stores and of course HEB.
She was always there to help us, if we needed, but she made sure you got a piece of her mind first.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Winfred L. Sladek; Mother, Ollie Meyer; Father, Kurt Meyer; Brothers, Charles, William, and Freddie; and Grandson, Jerry Knight Jr.
She is survived by her Daughters: Denise Baker & husband Mark Baker, Cynthia Knight & husband Jerry Knight Sr.; Granddaughter-in-law, Teri Knight; Granddaughter, Stephanie Dance; Sister, Juanita Grande; Great Grandchildren, Tyler Knight, Kaylee Knight, Destiny Montelongo.
The family wishes to express a heartfelt. Thank you to Baylor Scott and White ER team, the paramedic team for their compassionate care, and all friends and family that have reached out with support prayers and love at this time.
