Stan was born in Los Angeles, California on July 17, 1940 to Bill and Roberta Henn. In 1950, his family moved to the Hood River Valley in Oregon where he spent an adventurous and active youth, graduating from Wy’East High School in 1958.
Upon graduating from High School, Stan joined the Navy and served as a Seabee in the Eastern Pacific. Upon leaving the Navy, he attended Southern Colorado State, graduating in 1965 with a BS in Business. Moving to Denver for graduate studies, he earned an MA in Higher Education from the University of Denver in 1967. While at DU, he met Millie Fallin. Stan’s confident, quick pace as he strode across campus caught her attention and in time, they fell in love. They were married on July 6, 1968 at the Bruton Parish Church in Williamsburg, Virginia.
Stan taught and served on the Dean of Men’s staff at SMU in Dallas, Texas for 3 years before leaving education and entering the business world. His career took him and Millie to various Texas cities, including Athens, Duncanville and Wichita Falls. Finally, in 1982, Stan and Millie, now joined by their children Kristin and Marc, settled in Temple.
Stan worked in the Insurance business for the majority of his time in Temple, retiring in 2014 in order to enjoy his many hobbies. He was an accomplished chef, a certified Master Gardener and for the last 8 years, devoted time and energy to boating on Lake Belton and winemaking. He was an avid reader and had a goal of learning something new every day. He traveled throughout his life and was delighted to see so much of the world. He was an active member of Grace Presbyterian Church, Mended Hearts, Ducks Unlimited, and Cotillion Dance Club.
Stan’s love for his wife, children and grandchildren was unfailing and he was a source of inspiration and encouragement for all. He was a wonderful man and his family feels so lucky to have known him, and beyond lucky to have had him love them.
Stan is survived by wife Millie, daughter Kristin Henn, son Marc Henn, daughter-in-law Alisha, son-in-law Jeff Evelyn and grand-girls Charlotte and Margot Evelyn and Kate and Claire Henn.
The family is thankful for the many friends who visited with Stan over the last few months and provided him with good conversation and wonderful company, and for BS&W Hospice which provided loving attention and care.
