

TOMMIE WINGROVE Floy Alice "Tommie" Wingrove, age 95, passed away peacefully on September 16, 2009, in San Antonio, Texas, following a brief illness. Tommie was born May 18, 1914, in Falls County, near Blevins, Texas, to Walter Irvin Smith and Queenie Pearl (nee Thompson) Smith. As a child, she earned the nickname "Tommie" from her grandfather because of her outgoing personality and her frequent display of tom-boy antics. Tommie was preceded in death by her parents, and her grandparents Thomas J. and Theodosia Smith, formerly of Eddy, Texas, and George A. and Minnie Thompson, formerly of Temple, Texas. She was also preceded in death by three husbands, Homer "Alton" Woolley, James Otis Holton, and Robert Arthur Wingrove, all of Temple, Texas. She is survived by her three children, Major Billy A. Woolley, USAF, Retired, and wife, Sandra Polk Woolley, of San Antonio, Texas, Bobby I. Woolley, and wife Audrey L. Woolley, of Frisco, Texas, and Betty A. Velado (nee Woolley) of Knoxville, Tennessee. She leaves behind a loving family of 10 grand children, 11 great grand children, 2 great great grand children, and numerous other kin and loved ones. Tommie was a devout Christian lady who loved serving the Lord. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Temple, Texas for over 65 years. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, and the Degree of Honor Lodge in Temple. She served as a volunteer for both the Harvest House and Sammons Community Center in Temple, Texas for many years. Arrangements are under the direction of Scanio-Harper funeral home, 3110 Airport Road, Temple, Texas. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Friday, September 18, 2009, at the funeral home. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Saturday, September 19, 2009, at Immanuel Baptist Church, 1401 W. Central, Temple, Texas. The Reverend Ron Milne, Senior Pastor of Immanuel Baptist Church will lead the service. Immediately following the memorial service, a graveside burial service will be held at Hillcrest Cemetery, 1873 N. 1st St, Temple, Texas. She will be buried in the Woolley family plot next to her first husband, Alton. In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation in her name may be made to the Immanuel Baptist Church, Temple, Texas.
