Veda Phillips

Veda Phillips, age 101 of Temple, died Wednesday, September 4, 2013 in a local hospital. Services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, September 6, at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home with Rev. Johnny Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Bellwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be 5:00 - 7:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home. Mrs. Phillips was born on July 4, 1912 in the Hog Creek community in McLennan County. She was a graduate of Waco High School. She had been a resident of Temple since 1934. She married John Phillips on October 19, 1930 in Waco. She was a member of Oak Park United Methodist Church formerly 7th Street Methodist Church and a member of Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #32. She taught Sunday School for many years. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers and four sisters. Survivors include her daughter, Johnnie Sonnenburg and husband, Delane of Temple and several nieces and nephews.
