
Vera Lee Strickler Boyls, 93, of Temple died Sunday June 1, 2008 in a Temple hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday June 3, 2008 at First Lutheran Church in Temple with Pastor Patricia Dietrich officiating. Burial will follow at Bellwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be held 6-7:30 p.m. Monday at the Scanio-Harper Funeral Home. Mrs. Boyls was born February 23, 1915 in Rosebud, Texas to Will and Augusta Piel Strickler. She attended school in Ben Arnold and was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Salem Lutheran Church at Terry's Chapel. She married Robert Lee Boyls on October 23, 1937 at St. James Lutheran Church in the Vogelsang Community. He preceded her in death on September 4, 1991. She lived at Ben Arnold, Texas on the family farm until 1955, then moving to Cameron, Texas and then to Temple in 1960. She was a member of First Lutheran Church of Temple and served on many school and church committees. She was a member of the American Business Women's Association and several dance clubs. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and a friend to many. Survivors include three daughters, Gloria Jackson and husband Dick of Temple, Carol Ann Pimpler and husband Harold of Temple, and Lana Wood and husband Jerry of Bryan; three granddaughters, Sheila Lee Pimpler Haddock and husband Keith, Jill Marie Jackson Popelka and husband Jimmy, Jennifer Day Wood; three great-grandchildren, Hunter Darrel Lee Haddock, Kalie Marie Popelka, and Cole Jackson Popelka. Four brothers and two sisters preceded her in death. Pallbearers will be sons-in-law, Harold Pimpler, Dick Jackson, Jerry Wood and Grandsons-in-law, Keith Haddock, Jimmy Popelka, and Godchild, Leslie Heugatter.
