Vernon F. Baker, age 69, of Troy died Sunday, April 9, 2006 at his residence. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 PM Thursday, April 13, at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home with the Rev. Lee Berger officiating. Burial will be private. Mr. Baker was born April 17, 1936 in Monticello, Illinois to Fred L. and Elverta Baker. He attended Temple Jr. College and was a veteran of the U. S. Army. He had been a resident of Troy for the past 29 years. He was a member of Christian Family Fellowship in Bellmead. Survivors include his wife, Marilyn J. Baker of Troy, one son, Brian V. Baker and wife, Rachael of Hewitt and one granddaughter, Sophia Ann Baker. Memorials may be made to Scott & White Hospice.
