Vincent J. "Buddy" Scanio

Vincent J. "Buddy" Scanio, 98, of Temple died Friday, March 15, 2013 at his residence. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Monday, March 18 at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Rev. Ranjan Cletus as celebrant. Burial will follow at Bellwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be held 5:30-6:00 PM Sunday with a rosary being recited at 6:00 PM at the Scanio-Harper Funeral Home Chapel. Mr. Scanio was born January 5, 1915 in Temple to Frank Joseph and Jennie Kemendo Scanio. He was a life long resident of Temple graduating from Temple High School in 1931. He married Margaret Caughlin on February 6, 1946 at St. Mary's Catholic Church. She preceded him in death on April 22, 2009. He was co-owner of Scanio & Son Wholesale Fruits and Vegetables, retiring in 1969. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Survivors include five children, Vincent Scanio of San Marcos, Michael Scanio and wife, Carmen of San Marcos, Sharon Scamardo and husband, Danny of Austin, Richard Scanio and wife, Manette of Corpus Christi and Philip Scanio and wife, Carol of Temple. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, Sarah Cannon and husband, Tom, Joe Scanio and wife Tennessee, John Scanio, Gina Scanio, Francesca Scanio, Michael Scanio II, Sam Scamardo and wife, Karen, Dorothy Christensen and husband, J. R., Andrea Stegall and husband, Jake, Stacia Crafton and husband, Stefan, Justin Scanio and wife, Bobbie, Beth White and husband, Doug, Leska Parker and husband, Blake, and Tony Scanio and wife, Crystal; twenty-two great-grandchildren, Riley, Jackson, and Travis Cannon, Vivian and Collette Scanio, Violet and Luke Scamardo, Rex, Maggie, and Charlie Christensen, Tate and Wyatt Stegall, Hadley, Linden, Channing, and Gibson Crafton, Corbin and Gentry White, Thatcher Scanio, and Chance, Clara, and Collier Parker. Pallbearers are Joe Scanio, John Scanio, Michael Scanio, Sam Scamardo, Justin Scanio and Tony Scanio.
