She was born Virginia Pearl Morgan on January 28, 1941 in Coleman, TX to Audie Morgan and Aleene Clark Morgan. Ginger, as she preferred to be called, grew up and attended school in Coleman.
Ginger married the love of her life, Wayne Crye, on September 1, 1957 in Coleman. Together, they built a life rooted in love, faith and family. They raised three daughters, Marlene, Tracy and Karyn in a Christian home filled with warmth, laughter and unwavering support and devotion.
She worked many years at Bob Turner’s Western Wear and Nell’s Fashions in Coleman while raising her family. She was a member of the Elm Street Church of Christ in Coleman and taught the toddlers in Sunday school, served as a Girl Scout troop leader and a girl’s softball coach. She was involved in and supported all of her daughter’s activities and was always willing to serve and help out. She was always their biggest cheerleader at basketball games and tennis matches.
In 1988, she and Wayne moved to Lampasas, TX for Wayne’s work. While in Lampasas she was a member of the First Street Church of Christ and she worked as a bookkeeper for Barry Alexander, CPA. She also worked with the Lampasas Literacy program teaching reading.
Upon Wayne’s retirement in 1995, they moved to Morgan’s Point Resort and she worked for the Scott and White Belton Clinic until her retirement in 2002. She was a member at the Northside Church of Christ in Temple, Texas until she was called home on November 4. After her retirement, she was active in the local Meals on Wheels program.
Wayne and Ginger were inseparable, spending countless hours at ball games, school events, and family gatherings, always cheering on their children and grandchildren. Their love for one another and their family was evident in everything they did, serving as a beautiful example of commitment and grace and celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary this past September. What a testament to their love!
Her grandchildren were the greatest blessings to her. She never missed an opportunity to celebrate their accomplishments or support them in any way she could. She loved each of them deeply and took immense pride in being their Nana, offering endless hugs, homemade treats, and words of encouragement. She prayed for them daily, encouraged them to walk in faith, and found pure happiness in watching them grow into the people they are today.
Her faith was her strength, and she faced life with grace, compassion, and courage. Her greatest joy was seeing her loved ones take on Christ through baptism. She loved helping lead others to Christ.
As Isaiah 40:31 reminds us, “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”
She was a remarkable woman who loved God, her family and her friends so much and was loved by so many in return. She will be forever missed by all those who knew and loved her. One thing that we know many will miss is that she was faithful in sending cards for any occasion; birthdays, anniversaries, get well, sympathy, thinking of you, etc. She was very thoughtful and wanted everyone to know that she was thinking of them and praying for them in whatever phase of life they were in.
Survivors include her husband, Wayne of Belton, two daughters, Tracy Schulze of Temple, TX, Karyn Yost and husband, Dennis, of Salado, TX; seven grandchildren, Leah Barnes and husband, Matt, of Leander, TX, Haley Schulze of Temple, TX, Jared Yost, of Savannah, GA and Evan Yost of Galveston, TX, Erick Soto of Big Springs, TX, Ashley Terry of Atoka, OK, and Meagan Juarez of Bryan, TX; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
