Wayne Toone passed away in Temple, Texas January 27, 2013. He was born August 25, 1928 in Hill County, Texas. His parents were Ira and Lona Toone. Wayne graduated from Hardin Simmons University and received an M.A. in Theater Arts from East Texas State College. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Mr. Toone taught in a number of Texas colleges, culminating in a 40-year career at Temple College where he directed over 200 plays. He was an avid world traveler. He is survived by a Texas-sized family who will always miss him. Family, friends, former students and colleagues will celebrate his life Sunday, February 17, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Backstage Theater, Temple College, Temple, Texas; the address is 2600 South First Street, Temple, Texas 76504. In lieu of flower tributes, remembrance donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
