

I’m just telling you how the Cow ate the Corn” This was just one of those sayings that she would often drop on you during an intense, funny or normal conversation. On Sunday June 11, 2017 Wilhelmina Garnette West Nicholson entered eternal rest at her home located in Temple, Texas. She was born in Chesterfield County Virginia on October 8th, 1946 to the late William L. West and Bertha E. Street. Wilhelmina was preceded in death by her son, Edward C. Nicholson, Jr, At the age of 5 her family moved to Philadelphia, Pa. where she received her education graduating from Overbrook High School and Received an A. S. Degree from Pierce Junior College. She also received certificates from Sperry-Univac in Cobol Programmed Instructional Courses. During her life-time she held various positions working as Vice President of Data Entry and Assistant Plant Manager for Manufacturers Marketing Services in El Paso, Texas; Data Entry Manager/Data Processing Officer and Operations Manager for First National Bank in Midland, Texas; Assistant Vice President-Customer Service and Automated Banking Services in Midland and Austin Texas. Her most recent position was with the Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services as a Management Support Specialist where she retired in December 2013. Often referred to as Willie, Meana, Mi Mi, Ms. Wilhelmina and maybe a few other choice references, Willie loved to sing. She began singing in the church choir at the New Bethlehem Baptist Church in Philadelphia, Pa. As a teenager, she and three of her high school classmates formed a singing group ‘The Donnels’ producing there one and only single “ Here Comes the Bride.” Yes, family members were the only ones who purchased their song but she continued on singing. In Texas, she often used her talent singing in venues such as Nursing Homes and Senior Citizen Centers. She sang semi-professionally in Night Clubs and Women in Jazz Concerts. Willie often appeared with great artists such as Pamela Hart, Karan Chavis, and Mandy Gaines. Sister Wilhelmina loved singing in her church and led Praise and Worship during Sunday Morning services at Abundant Grace Tabernacle. She held various positions working as the Treasurer, Member of the Executive Board and Assistant to the Pastor. Wilhelmina loved the Lord and she loved God’s People. She contributed passionately to all the ministries of the church. Meana/Mi Mi loved her family. She is survived by a loving and devoted sister Linda W. Jones (Rev. Roscoe) (VA), a devoted brother Marvin Tucker( KY), a devoted granddaughter Jocelyn Price (AZ) grandchildren Julian and Jessica Nicholson (TX); a devoted niece Nainette G. Jones (VA); three aunts Audrey Street Scott, Dorothy R. West and Adelle West (VA); devoted step-daughter Tonya Nicholson- Jones ; one step granddaughter (NV) ; a host of cousins and close friends and last but not least a devoted and loving fiancée Darryl W. Jordan (San Angelo, TX) . “ I just look like this okay” ……………”They’re gonna smoke a turd in hell”……..
