William Edwin Entzminger Jr.

William Entzminger, Jr. passed from this world at his home on Monday, October 28, 2024, at the age of 69. He was born in Columbia, SC, on August 23, 1955, the oldest of six children. His father moved their family to Temple in 1964, to take a position at Scott & White Hospital.

William attended TSTC in Waco after graduation from Academy High School in 1974, where he learned to weld. This would be his life-long career, beginning with welding on power plants for H.B. Zachary throughout Texas and ending with a 40-year welding career with Lely Tank & Waste before retiring.

He is survived by his father, William (Bill) Edwin Entzminger, Sr; his son, Jason Eric Entzminger, wife Sarah and granddaughter Riley Kay; his daughter, Ginger Rae Davis, husband Tommy and grandsons Bryce Michael and Braxton Lee; sister, Katherine Shelton and late husband Stacy; brothers David Entzminger and wife Cindy, Wade Entzminger and wife Joyce, Russell Entzminger, and Michael Entzminger and wife Laina; and two nieces and two nephews, as well as Clydette Entzminger Jones, the mother of their two children.

William is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Ella Swygert Entzminger and granddaughter, Kate Ryan Entzminger.

While he truly enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, gardening, and helping his kids raise livestock, his favorite role was being PeePaw to his three grandchildren. He loved to fry fish for them, watch them play in the lake, and hear about their sporting adventures. In recent years, William found great joy in gardening and his kids and grandkids will tell you he raised some of the very best tomatoes in Bell County. He had a green thumb inherited from his father and took a lot of pride in his vegetable garden each year.

William was a member of First Baptist Church of Academy and the family requests memorials be made to the Church in lieu of flowers.

Scanio-Harper Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be 5-7:00 pm Thursday, October 31, 2024, at the funeral home. Graveside services and burial will be at Greathouse Cemetery at 10:30 am Friday, November 1, 2024.

Pallbearers will be Jason Entzminger, David Entzminger, Wade Entzminger, Russell Entzminger, Michael Entzminger and Tommy Davis.
