The fourth of nine children, he was born to the late Louie and Myrtle Walker in Long Mott, TX on December 29, 1930. He graduated from Port Lavaca High School and attended Texas Tech University. He married Marianne Stookey of Belleville, IL on May 24, 1952. He served over 23 years in the US Air Force as a Fighter Pilot and Explosive Ordinance Disposal Officer. He retired in Las Vegas, NV where he owned a flight school and flew scenic tours to the Grand Canyon. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and two sisters. He is survived by his wife, Marianne Walker; four sons, Dennis Walker of Las Vegas, NV, David Walker of Harker Heights, TX, Ken Walker of Kennewick, WA, Tim Walker, of Landstuhl, Germany; and a daughter, Mona Walker of Englewood, FL; four grandsons, and seven granddaughters; one brother, Tom Walker of Sun City West, AZ, and three sisters, Elizabeth Odom of Port Lavaca, TX, Norma Jean Bale of Victoria, TX, and Linda Campbell of San Antonio, TX. Bill Walker was a cowboy, always a cow punching cowboy, a jet fighter flying cowboy, a bomb disarming cowboy, a motorcycle riding cowboy, small plane flying cowboy, and a Grand Canyon flying cowboy. No cowboy that ever lived had more fun than he did. If there are horses in heaven, I betcha he's on one right now.
