Wilma Kolay Shaffner

Wilma Kolay Shaffner, age 91 of Temple, died Thursday, June 4, 2020 at a local care center. Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm Monday, June 8, 2020 at Cross Church on Birdcreek, 2202 Birdcreek Dr., Temple, Texas 76502 with Rev. Tim Chaplin officiating. Burial will follow at Seaton Cemetery. Mrs. Shaffner will lie in state beginning at 9:00am Saturday, June 6, 2020 at the Scanio-Harper Funeral Home.

Mrs. Shaffner was born on March 20, 1929 in Bell County, Texas to the late Walter Kolay and Albina Martinek Kolay. For many years, she operated Pop’s Family Restaurant on East Adams Avenue until her retirement due to family members failing health. She married Jack Shaffner on September 19, 1971. Wilma was a member of Cross Church on Birdcreek, formerly Temple Brethren Church, as well a member of Christian Sisters for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.

Survivors include friends, cousins and her church family.
