

She was born in Bell County December 19, 1937 to T.A. and Willie Mae Havens Phillips. She married Royce J. Swaim January 28,1956.
She grew up in Salado and graduated from Salado High School and Durham’s Business College. She worked in the Education Field in the Public School Districts which included Belton, Round Rock, Hays Consolidated, Austin and also at the Texas Education Agency in Austin. Wyanell was a member of the Texas Educational Secretaries Association. She also was a member of the local and state Retired Teachers Associations.
Wyanell was a member of Crestview Methodist Church in Austin where she was very active in Sunday School, Choir, and involved in various committees and church groups. After moving to Temple 2007 she was a member of Oak Park United Methodist Church at the time of her death where she was also an active Church and Choir Member. After retirement in 1997, she also did much volunteer work, including the nursing home in which her Mother resided and continued after her death in 2004. She supported the Alzheimer’s organization and worked in the American Cancer Society more than 30 years.
Wyanell enjoyed her friends very much and Bridge was her favorite pastime. She also enjoyed the Red Hat Society in which she was an active member since her charter group in Austin was organized in 2004. She was a member of the Sanctified Sisters of the Red Hat Society in Belton-Temple area at the time of her death.
Wyanell was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Royce, brother, Doyle Phillips, and sister, Wanda Phillips Wright.
Wyanell is survived by her son, Terry Lynn Swaim of Temple; daughter, Kimberly Ann Swaim of Temple, sister, Iris Phillips Kendall of Temple and a number of nieces and nephews.
Wyanell desired that memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 7718 Woodhollow Drive, Suite 150, Austin, Texas 78731, or Oak Park Methodist Church, 5505 S. 31st Street, Temple, Texas.
Visitation will be 10:00AM –11:00AM Saturday, August,8, 2026 at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home with Funeral Service at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in Cedar Knob Cemetery near Salado.
