Memorial services for Zane Gray Bales, 84, of Belton will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday at Friendship Methodist Church with Rev. Billy Johnson officiating. Mr. Bales died Monday in a Temple Hospital. Mr. Bales was born November 17, 1924 in Milam County to James L. Bales and Susie Tippett Bales. He lived in Bell County most of his life. He served in the Army Air Corp., in Europe, during World War II. He married Loyce Pope Nov. 12, 1945. She preceded him in death Dec. 24, 2003. He worked as an auto body repairman most of his life having retired from Griffin Auto Body Service in 1987. He was a member of the Church of Christ, Elks Lodge #138; American Legion Post #133 and VFW Post #1820. Survivors include two sons Walter Bales of Belton and William Bales of Temple; one daughter Elaine Ocker of Garland; eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
