

Born in Brooklyn, New York on June 11, 1926, the daughter of John and Helen (“Nellie”) Stratton both from County Kerry, Ireland, Agnes will be remembered as a courageous, generous, intelligent, feisty and witty woman. With a remarkable zest for life she loved family, bargain hunting, reading, gardening, teaching, the beach and a good Manhattan. A dedicated volunteer (Matawan First Aid Squad, CCD and Habitat for Humanity), Agnes will be remembered by many as a good neighbor.
Predeceased by George, her loving husband of 60 years, sisters Elizabeth, Katherine and Helen and brother John, Agnes is survived by her eldest sister, Mary, brother-in-law Odran Branley; five devoted sons, James and wife Elspeth, George and wife Lucy, Thomas and Garrick, Jack and Denise, William and, seven grandchildren, Brendan, Cavan, Bethany, Kelly, Michael, Sara and Daniel.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, April 18 at Quinn Hopping Funeral Home, 26 Mule Road, Toms River. A Funeral Mass will be offered at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 19 at St. Joseph's Church, 685 Hooper Ave., Toms River. Burial will follow at the Brig. Gen. Wm. C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Knights of Columbus - St. Joseph's Council #4969 or Habitat for Humanity.
