Anna Bilozir

September 2, 1925January 13, 2020

Anna Bilozir, 94, passed away in her home in Toms River, where she resided since 1986. She was born in Tataryniv, Ukraine and emigrated to the United States in 1949 to build a better life for her family. Anna first lived in Newark, then Irvington, NJ while working as a coil winder, manufacturing phones for Western Electric that later became AT&T. She retired with over 33 years of service.

Anna was an active member of the Rosary Society at her church, St. Stephen’s Ukrainian Catholic, regularly contributing to bake sales and making pierogies. She loved planting flowers in her garden, singing, and walking around the neighborhood. She also enjoyed playing cards and taking occasional trips to Atlantic City; she always managed to find the one slot machine that hit it big.

She is survived by her daughter Luba Ostapiak of Morristown, NJ, and her grandchildren Christine Ostapiak, Larysa Atzl and her husband Andrew Atzl, and Natalie Ostapiak, and their father Roman Ostapiak. Anna will be remembered fondly by her extended family and friends she made at church and in her neighborhood. She will also be missed by her grandchildren’s cats who would curl up next to her and occasionally grab items out of her purse to play with.

The family will receive friends on Friday January 17, 2020 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at St. Stephen’s Ukrainian Catholic Church 1344 White Oak Bottom Road Toms River, NJ 08755. A Divine Liturgy will begin at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at St. Andrew’s Cemetery in South Bound Brook. Condolences and memories may be shared with the family by visiting www.quinn-hoppingfh.com.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in her memory be made to The Ukrainian Museum in New York, NY. Donations can be made online at www.ukrainianmuseum.org, or checks can be mailed to The Ukrainian Museum at 222 East 6th Street, New York NY 10003 using the pledge forms also available online.
