Anne was born in Germany and immigrated with her parents and older sister Gertrude (Trudy) to the United States turning 5 years old during the voyage. Anne worked to acclimate to the US language and culture in her new home where she eventually became a naturalized US citizen. Anne lived in Union City, Secaucus, Toms River and briefly in Saddle River, NJ before coming to Hawthorne, NJ last year.
Anne was a kind and strong, independent and driven lady who loved her family and friends, animals, gardening, travel, tennis, golf, bowling, basketball and any great gathering. Anne was part of the Secaucus 7 women’s basketball team, a member of the Oritani Field Club in Hackensack, and a member of the Garden Club in Toms River. Anne traveled throughout Europe, The United States, various Islands, and the Panama Canal on some of her adventures.
Anne chose early retirement from Aeroil Products and moved to Toms River soon after to begin a new part of her life. She was involved with her friends, various part time jobs, volunteer work at a local animal shelter and supporting thrift store, and the garden club while still making time for travel and local trips. The ladies of the garden club were also a frequent lunch bunch when not gardening together. Anne enjoyed the diversity of Toms River where she could shop, eat, and enjoy the park or the beach or any activity all within a few minutes of home. Certainly, there was always room on the couch for a family/friend visit or an overnight stop, the door was always open. Anne regularly overcame trying times and weathered the storms of life with tenacity, grace and dignity, while living life her way right up to her last days.
Anne is predeceased by her parents, sister Gertrude (Trudy) Franklin (nee Fetzner) and husband Ballard (Frank) Franklin, brother Emil Fetzner and wife Patricia Fetzner.
Anne is survived by her lifelong friend Helen Mifflin, cousin Anneliese (Ann) Delitzscher and family, nieces Lori Schroeder (nee Franklin) and Lisa Mazzia (nee Fetzner) and husband David, nephew Curt Fetzner, grandnephew Ryan Fetzner, grandnieces Katie Schroeder, Danielle Fetzner and Elizabeth Mazzia, friends and extended family members.
