Arline C. Van Deventer, 87, born November 9, 1938, in Newark, New Jersey, passed away on August 8, 2026 in the loving arms of her husband. A longtime New Jersey resident, Arline lived in Edison, NJ, and later in Holiday City Heights beginning in 2006. In her later years, she was a resident of Toms River, New Jersey.
Throughout her working life, Arline served with steady devotion and quiet pride. She worked as a Secretary for the UAW Union in Clark, NJ for 14 years, and then as a Secretary with Childcraft in Edison for 11 years. Later, she worked in the records department of the Highland Park Police Station for three years. She also worked alongside her husband, Roger, cleaning office buildings—an example of the simple, faithful partnership that marked so much of her life.
Arline was married for 56 years to the love of her life, Roger. She was a beloved and cherished mother to her son, Larry Procopio, and his wife, Cheryl, and a kind-hearted grandmother to her two grandchildren, Nicole and Kayla.
In the quieter moments that made a home feel warm and lived-in, Arline found joy in crocheting and in painting seashells—pastimes that reflected her gentle spirit and the care she so naturally extended to others.
At this time, the family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to their wonderful neighbors, Debbie and daughter, and all of the dialysis workers whom Arline loved and accepted as part of her family.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 13, 2026 from 6–9 pm at the Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 26 Mule Rd., Toms River. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, August 14, 2026 at 10 am at the Church of the Nazarene, Toms River, followed by interment at the Brig. Gen. Wm. C. Doyle Veteran Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ.
