Arthur “Artie” F. Zapolski died peacefully in his sleep on Sunday morning, June 30. He was 92. Artie was a World War II veteran serving in the Regular Army from 1939 until he was discharged as a staff sergeant in the Army Air Corps in 1945. He served in Panama, the Caribbean and the Pacific including Siapan in the 20th Air Force. After the war he met and married the love of his life Trudy Wisnieski in 1947. They were married for over 30 years until Trudy died in 1979. Artie was a New York City policeman for 20 years after which he as a supervisor at Irving Trust Company on Wall Street for over 20 years. After his retirement he moved from his lifelong home in Maspeth New York to Manchester New Jersey in 1994. Artie is survived by his son Art Zapolski and daughter-in-law Alice Brittain. Art’s viewing will be held at Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 26 Mule Rd, Toms River, NJ on Tuesday July 2nd from 2-4 and 7-9PM followed by a funeral mass on Wednesday July 3rd at 9 AM St. John’s R.C. Church in Lakehurst. Interment will follow at St. John’s Cemetery, Middle Village, NY.
